OSI updates – October
Hi Reader,
Happy October! We’re excited to announce that Tim White has joined OSI as a Fellow. You may already know him as an instructor in our writing and philosophy courses.
Tim is an award-winning novelist and nonfiction author, a contributing editor at The Objective Standard, and a teacher of philosophy, especially Objectivism. You can read more of his work on his Substack.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is one of the year’s biggest films, but does it understand the story it’s telling? In his latest review essay, Tim argues it doesn’t. Take the famous cyclops scene: in Homer, Odysseus escapes by outwitting a talking monster. Nolan makes the monster mute. Tim shows why that one change says a lot about the whole film, and why Homer’s epic has lasted three thousand years when this adaptation may not last the season.
In this LevelUp talk, Dr. Emily Morse explores “Sexual Intelligence” and what it takes to build a fulfilling sex life. She looks at how self-awareness, self-acceptance, and honest communication can help you better understand your needs, express them with confidence, and create stronger intimate relationships.
PS: Applications forOSI’s Junior Fellow Program are open year-round. If you’d like to build a career writing, speaking, or creating content that promotes reason, liberty, and human flourishing, apply now.
