On page 213 of OPAR it states “Objectivism says that remaining alive is the goal of values and of all proper action”. As a general statement I think this is true. But would the example of someone with a terminal illness in constant severe pain which cannot be alleviated be an exception to this? For such a person seeking death and a way to obtain it would be rational and proper would it not?
