Religion enraptured my attention with a kind of “psychological magnetism” that felt both emotionally compelling and intellectually convincing. Joining with like-minded believers who argued for my religious views on a weekly basis provided me with comfort, reassurance, and certainty. These arguments became lodged in my mind and I’d use them to reconvince myself in times of doubt.

Many religious people try to support religion with arguments that seem to contain facts and logic. But all of these arguments fall apart because faith and reason are diametrically opposed and fundamentally incompatible.
